Fine vintage calculator made in Germany in 1909. It is a TIM III calculating machine. TIM is an acronym of the sentence Time Is Money), which appears in the brands logo and puts the focus on these calculators speed when operating, a real time-saver for the user. TIM calculators were made by Ludwig Spitz & Co. in Berlin-Tempelhold and were designed by Robert Rein, who improved Thomas machines system (their predecessors). TIM brand disappeared in 1940. This calculating machine is mechanical in operation and works with digit placers. As many others from the same time, it works with Leibnitzs scaled cylinder system. The calculator can add, subtract, multiply and divide; it has eight operating digits and sixteen for the results. This model is in very good condition and its black body with shiny polished brass front boasts a functional and decorative beauty. The machine works like new, and is at the same time an antique, aesthetical and practical article. On the left, just under the result we can see a golden medal with the brand, the logo and the companys name. This information can be found again at the front. Moreover, on the right front we can see some abbreviations which indicate the calculators functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These details increase even more this vintage machines appeal, turning it into an exceptional piece in really good condition, worthy of the best collection of calculators from the beginning of the 20th century.
