German Brunsviga System Trinks calculator. model M from 1924, made by Grimme, Natalis & Co (Braunsweight). This is an appealing machine which has preserved all its functionality, being able to perform different operations as fluidly as the first day of use. Apart from its excellent working, the calculator is also in very good condition. The machine keeps the original wooden base and cover; the cover has its lock and key, though the handle to carry the machine has lost. This is a lovely vintage piece that preserves all the charm of antique calculators, which worked thanks to a crank mechanism. The calculating machine is made of black-lacquered iron with white letters and numbers printed in some parts. The black finish is in good condition and the machine has been revised and adjusted to guarantee a perfect operation. The numbers are neat and clear everywhere, and the silvery metal parts and gears are also polished and shiny. At the top of the machine we can see an inscription: BRUNVISGA SYSTEM TRINKS, and to the left of the numbers and gears there is a circular logo with the word PATENT. Below there is another inscription with the name of the manufacturing firm and the city where it was located: GRIMME, NATALIS & CO. AKTIENGELLENSCHAFT BRAUNSWEIGHT. The machines base is a plank made of solid walnut wood with milled edges. The cover is made of plywood covered by a nice golden and reddish wood veneer, probably mahogany. At one side there is a smart keyhole; the lock can be operated by the original key, beautiful and very decorative. Brunsviga brand emerged in 1892, when Grimme, Natalis & Co. (Braunsweight, Germany) got the concession to produce Ohner calculating machines for Germany, Belgium and Switzerlad. This factory, whose technical director was Frand Trinks (the systems name comes from his surname), started launching new models under the name Brunsviga. Their low price and great operation made of them very popular articles during several decades. This calculators beauty and good working, together with its ancient age, turn it into a real collectors item that will delight any enthusiast of vintage machines. Measurements: Width (wooden base): 320 mm. Height: 120 mm.
