Striking German Brunsviga calculating machine, model 13RK. This calculator was made in the 1950s and is a real icon of its time. The 13RK was one of the most popular Brunsviga calculators and the one we are looking at has survived to our days in amazing condition and perfecto working order. It is an Odhner pinwheel calculator, a mechanically powered machine which works with a series of pinwheels with pins that point at the numbers engraved in the metal. The machines body has a light hammered finish, and the engraved numbers are painted black. The result numbers are white on a black background, while the knobs and the cranks handles are made of dark red bakelite. This makes a nice and harmonious contrast with the light color of the enamel that protects the metal. All the parts are greatly preserved, with no rusted or broken parts, and this fact turns this beautiful machine into a real collectors item. At the back there is a metal plate attached to the machine where we can read the name of the machine and the company that produced it: OLYMPIA WERKE AG Brunsviga Werke BRAUNSCHWEIG Made in Germany. The German company Grimme, Natalis and Co. Of Braunschweig obtained the German patent rights to the Odhner pinwheel calculator in 1982, and produced similar machines under the Brunsviga name. From then one company improved and developed the Brunsviga and it became one of the most successful mechanical calculators, being produced until the 1970s. This calculating machine is surely a good example of the companys good work; it is in perfect condition and will delight any collector of vintage machines, or any lover of mechanic devices from the first half of the 20th century.Measurements: Width: 270 mm.
