Original German Mercedes Euklid calculator, Model 29. This nice vintage calculating machine dates from 1935 and as a keyboard system, an innovation compared to older pinwheel calculators (Odhner system). The article is in good condition and works like new. It keeps all its original keys, parts and components, all of them very well preserved. This is a smart machine with black-lacquered iron body and beautiful green front. The keyboard is made up of square pieces with black and ochre backgrounds and numbers in the same colors making a clear contrast.At the top of the calculator we can see the boxes for the result numbers, in white color on a black background and with their corresponding levers, knobs and transparent green pointers. At the front, to the right of the keyboard we distinguish an inscription with the name and model of the machine (MERCEDES EUKLID Mod. 29) engraved in the metal. At the back of the article there is also a diamond-shaped label with the printed logo of the brand. The calculator keeps its original levers and crank, this one located at the front right side of the machine and with black bakelite handle. The contrast between the green and black finishes of this piece provides it with a discreet beauty that increases the functional value of the item.The black lacquered is slightly worn in some parts due to the trace of time and use, though this does not interfere with the pieces great look and is easy to restore by a good professional. This calculators design supposed a notable advance on older machines, especially pinwheel machines. Mercedes Euklid calculators were invented in Thuringia (Gemany) following the proportional lever system developed by Christel Hamman in 1903. The following model, Mercedes Euklid 30, was already an electrical calculator and was launched around 1945.This vintage calculator is a machine of rare beauty and great functionality, perfect to adorn a desk or study or to become part of a good collection of mathematical antiques from the early 20th century.Measurements: Width: 310 mm.
