Attractive vintage Addo calculator made in Sweden in 1920. This calculating machine is in good working order and can perform mathematical operations just like the first day of use. The article includes a printing system with a paper roll, both in perfect condition. Instead of showing the results in the classical window with numbers, they are printed on the paper roll located on top of the machine. These calculators have been used for decades and have always been a good way of keeping the companies general account. The piece is well preserved though its black-lacquered finish is slightly stained and one key is missing (the reset button), but it keeps the lever and can be operated without any problem. It is also possible to clean the metal in order to give the machine back its original look, though the trace of time has left its print on it and filled it with undeniable antique charm. Anyway it is still a highly decorative item that can also be used to perform arithmetical operations and print the results. At the front of the machine, just before the paper roll, we can see a golden metal plate with the inscription BURMA, STÉ DE MACHINES DE BUREAUX. Under these words, which are surely the name of the shop where the calculator was originally purchased, we can also read its address and phone number. The plate indicates that the shop was located in Brusels (Belgium).Just over the plate there are a series of embossed capital letters forming the inscription AKTIEBOLAGET ADDO. Moreover, on one side there is an inscription in big white printed letters and numbers: M111. Addo was a company founded by Hugo Agrell in Malmö, Sweden, in 1918. His son took the company to the United States in 1950. The brand was mainly known for their mechanical calculators, though during the 20the century they also produced electronic models, some of which were manufactured by Sharp in Japan. This amazing calculator is worthy of a good museum of antique mechanical devices and will surely be a real find for a good collector of vintage machines.Measurements: Width: 350 mm.
