Nice Russian Feliks calculating machine, made in the 1930s. As well as being well preserved and in great working order, this calculator is also a very exclusive piece because it comes with its original cover with the logo of the brand printed on it. This is a classical pinwheel calculator which works with a system called Ohdner system (the surname of the engineer that developed it). The article is in good condition and stands on a metal plate which serves as its base. This plate is adjusted to the cover designed to protect the machine and to carry it comfortably. The black lacquer that covers the cast-iron the machine is made of is in good condition, and so is the white paint that enhances the numbers and the logo of the brand, engraved at the top left corner in Cyrillic lettering. Below we can see another Russian inscription, written in an elegant calligraphy and adorned by a circle. The calculator keeps all its mobile components, including the butterfly screws, the levers and the crank with black Bakelite handle. The metal plate where it stands on looks somewhat distressed and has lost its black finish in some points. The machine bears the serial number M-3655 engraved in the metal: it is at the front, in the lower left-hand corner. As stated before, it keeps the original sheet-metal cover with black-lacquered finish and white printed logo. It also preserves the original silvery metal handle. Feliks calculators are said to be named after Felix Dzerhinsky, who founded the Soviet Calculator Factory in Moscow in 1924. Nevertheless, later he achieved fame as the founder of the KGB.This Soviet calculator is a rare piece that will stand out in the most complete collection of calculating machines from the early 20th century.Measurements: Width: 310 mm.
