Exceptional big Muldivo calculator with twenty digits and in perfect working order. This calculating machine was made in the 1920s and is in good condition, preserving its original wooden base and protecting cover. The Muldivo Calculating Machine Co. Ltd. was a distributor of mechanical calculators founded in London in 1912. It distributed models from many companies including IME, Madas, Thales and other, and also manufactured some of its own. The first machines they sold were made by French company Chateau Freres. In its last years Muldivo also distributed and made electronic calculators until in 1971 the company eventually closed its doors. This machine is a foreign-made model as we can read in the rear inscription: foreign manufacture. This means that the calculator was made by a foreign brand and afterwards was distributed by Muldivo under its own name. It is a very rare and exclusive model because of its big size, and it has no less than twenty digits. The machine is in good condition and shows only the logical signs of the trace of time. Nevertheless it works like new. At the front left side it has a white printed logo with the brands name, and just below we can see the calculators serial number engraved in the silvery metal piece on which the machine stands: 15745.There is a metal plate with the name of the company, its address and the original telephone number screwed to the wooden plank that acts as the calculating machines base. This plank, designed to support the calculator and to lock the protecting cover, is made of solid oak wood. Under it there is a felt-covered plank designed to safely put the calculator on a table. The protecting lid is made of black-metal covered wood and keeps its original handle, lock and key. This is a very rare vintage calculator, an exceptional collectors item full of charm and still in use that will delight all the lovers of early 20th centurys machines.Measurements (with base plank): Width: 160 mm. Height: 180 mm.
