This Adix adding machine from the early 20th century is a real pioneer in the field of calculating machines. It is a highly interesting piece, made in Germany in 1904 and that comes in its original case. The adder is made of silvery metal, keeps all its original parts and can be used just like new. The case where it is stored provides this machine with even more interest and both items make up a quality set that any collector will love to own.This machine is the first model made under the name of Adix. The first patent was granted to the Austrian engineer and inventor Joseph Pallweber of Salzburg, who became renowned for developing the father of later digital watches: the jump hour watch. The adder was produced between 1904 and 1930 by the Adix Company of Manhein, beonging to Palweber and Adolf Bordt. This particular piece is, as stated before, the first model manufactured, so it has no reset system, that was introduced in later models.This charming machine has nine keys and works with a click wheel column system. The mechanism lays exposed so technology lovers can see the way in which the keys transmit the amounts to the counting mechanism. This adder does not let the user add whole amounts but just permits additions of columns of individual digits not exceeding a total sum of 999. The top piece with the total sum digits we can see the companys logo engraved in the metal, with the name of the firm: ADIX COMPANY. These words are also printed on the blue satin that lines the inside of the cases lid. Finally, the word Adix is also printed on the outside of the lid in the shape of an elegant golden signature.This fascinating ancient adding machine will be the perfect piece to complete a good collection of vintage calculators.Measurements: Length: 150 mm.
