Beautiful Chinese porcelain bowl with blue hand-painted decoration. This bowl is a delicate artisanal piece, full of delicacy and perfect to decorate a noble wooden showcase or table. It is also a hand-made antique piece, with all the charm and elegance of Chinese quality porcelain. The bowl boasts a classic cobalt blue decoration on a white background that embellishes the piece inside and outside. This decoration is composed mainly by dragons, relevant mythological beasts in the Chinese tradition that appear constantly in decorative arts. This particular bowl is painted outside with pairs of dragons facing each other, surrounded by the typical curved motives depicting clouds and flames. The dragons are fierce and full of movement, and are painted in detail. Their faces are especially remarkable: between the heads of each couple of dragons we can see a motive that seems to be a blue sun. Inside the bowl there is only a dragon painted at the bottom of the piece, accompanied by a blue round motive probably symbolizing the moon (we can also see this motive in the outside decoration). Inside the bowl and close to the edge we can see a nice blue geometrical fringe. The bowl is in good condition, showing only a tiny dent at the edge where a practicably imperceptible hairline starts. Otherwise it is complete and both the white porcelain and the blue decoration look shiny and clean. At the bowls base we can see the Kangxi mark performed under the glaze that protects the porcelain and the painted motives, and provides the piece with a wonderful crystal glow. This mark usually appears in every porcelain piece made during Kangxi Emperors reign (1654-1722). Kangxi was the third Qing Dynasty emperor and the second in ruling over China as a whole. We are surely looking at a fine antique Chinese bowl that joins beauty and quality.Measurements: Width: 200 mm.
