Pair of Chinese Vases

Amazing set of Chinese hand-decorated white porcelain vases. This is a beautiful pair of vases made of the finest porcelain and with a colorful decoration that turns them into remarkable pieces. These two antique Chinese vases have survived to our days in great condition, with no visible flaws and keeping their colorful painted motives as bright and shiny as when they were originally fired. The symmetrical decoration they boast reveals that they were conceived as a set so they have to be shown together in order to shine at their best.The hand-painted motives that decorate the vases cover mainly their front part. Both pieces are adorned with the same scene, depicting five figures whit happy and relaxes faces. The central character is the old man at the right top corner, who is dressed in rich traditional clothes and carries a big parasol made of peacock feathers. This wise man is accompanied of a group of people composed by a woman and two men that watch a small character who is dancing, probably a child. The clothes richness is especially remarkable: they are colorfully painted and boast a great attention to detail.The characters expressions are also highly attractive, and are very expressive even being drawn with very few strokes. The artist that painted this groups of figures was surely a skillful one, as his skill is revealed by the movement, liveliness and charm that this scene display. The same group is repeated symmetrically in both vases, as if they were reflecting each other. At the back of each piece we can see two red bats flying on the white background; these animals are a symbol of good fortune in Chinese tradition.This exceptional pair of symmetrical vases is bound to decorate a place of honor in the house of any lover of oriental porcelain.Measurements: Vase 1: Width: 110 mm.
