This amazing white porcelain vase is a wonderful piece, and is marked as made in the Quianlong period, but it was probably made in the early twentieth century. The vase is in a flawless condition and draws our attention for the porcelains delicate quality: it is so thin that even lets the light through. At the base we can see the Qianlong mark sketched in blue ink on the white background. The vases surface is decorated by hand with amazing skill and taste, revealing the hand of a talented artist. It is performed in a mille fleur style, meaning thousand flowers; in fact, the vase is completely covered by colorful flowers of different kinds. At the front and the back, the flowery background opens to make room for two charming traditional scenes. The front scene depicts a group of male characters, dressed in the traditional way. Three of them are carrying a palanquin where the man located at the left seemed to be sitting before. His clothes and the small servant that accompanies him suggest he is a relevant man. This person is listening to a countryman who stands in front of him and seems to be pleading for help. The scene takes place in a charming country landscape, colorful and delicate. The scene at the back of the vase is equally beautiful, and its charm and spontaneity even overcome the front scenes ones. It depicts a group of four country characters with two oxen. One of the characters is sitting on an ox; a delicate nightingale is sitting on his finger. The figures, three men and a woman, show a relaxed and attentive pose. Both scenes are framed by a stylized red fringe composed of three bats with their wings and tails connected: this detail separates the scenes from the flowery background in a subtle and efficient way.
