Antique hand-painted porcelain plate made in China in the late 18th or early 19th century. Though this is a really old and delicate piece, it is in very good condition and has survived to our days complete and with no visible flaws. The plate is painted by hand with a motive depicting a gorgeous landscape in blue, orange and black shades, with a series of scenes in it. The landscape is surrounded by a decorative fringe painted in the same colors and covering the whole edge. Both parts create a surprisingly beautiful and moving decoration. The central motive shows a coastal landscape with a series of traditional buildings sketched to the left. The buildings are surrounded by trees, plants and rocks, and if front of them there is a flat strip of land with two scenes taking place. One of them shows an old man with a small servant that is bringing him a meal, while the other depicts two old men talking amiably. At the top left part we can see the main scene of the plate. It depicts two riders that take part in some sort of competition one of the horses is entering the water and the other is already in. The rides are smiling and compared to the other figures, they are considerably bigger. The scene is vivid and moving, and just like the rest of the plates decoration, is performed skillfully by a talented artist. This amazing antique plate is a singularly beautiful and authentic piece that deserves a relevant place in a good collection of oriental porcelain. Measurements: Diameter: 9.4 in / 24 cm.
