Superb Chinese white porcelain vase painted by hand by Liu Yu Cen, a famous Chinese artist that developed his career during the 20th century. As stated before, the motive was painted by Liu Yu Cen, a contemporary Chinese artist born in 1904 and dead in 1969. Liu Yu Cen was mentored by Pan TaoYu and was part of the famous Jingdezhen school of painted porcelain. The artist specialized in painting flowers and birds, especially cocks such as the ones we can admire in this striking piece. His works boast delicate color shades, subtle and ethereal, and a great precision in the drawing. Today, the works by Liu Yu Cen are very appreciated by the experts. The vase also bears fine decorative fringes painted at the base and the mouths edge. At the back side we can see an inscription written in hand-painted red and black Chinese characters. As stated before, at the base we can see Liu Yu Cens signature in red ink, clear and legible. The base also shows the furnace mark, a typical feature in artisanal porcelain the border shows an uneven brownish shade produced by the firing process that takes place in a traditional furnace.
