This handsome-looking pair of Chinese porcelain vases, with their long neck and harmonious proportions, was made at the end of the 19th century or the beggining of 20th century. Both have the imperial Qianlong seal on the base. Qianlong was the sixth emperor of Qing dynasty (the last imperial dynasty in China), and the fourth who reigned over all the country. He came after his father, Yongzheng Emperor. Although these vases do not belong to that era, they are ancient and their beauty turns them into a very special set of porcelain pieces. The vases are made of fine porcelain and they belong to the Green Family. This name is due to the prominent presence of green color in the decoration of the pieces. They are decorated with polychrome motives on a white background; the drawings are engraved and colored. The quality of the decoration is really impressive; the drawings are almost perfect, made with firm and fluid black lines, a nice gradation of colors and a painting made with pinpoint accuracy. The vases necks are especially remarkable, as they are very long and are painted with a complex filigree and big flowers (both typically Chinese) on a turquoise-green background. Both vases show the furnace mark on the base; this is a brownish color which darkens the circular edge, due to the heat of the furnace plate on which they were put in order to be fired. It is a feature which testifies for the quality of the porcelain and its manufacture. They also have the red imperial Qianlong stamp on the base. Even not coming from those times and most probably they were made some time after, this pair of vases are undoubtedly antique, made of the finest porcelain and hand-decorated with considerable skill. The wonderful colors, the elegant decoration with floral motives and butterflies, and the slim shape of this vases make of them a great set of Chinese porcelain pieces, perfect to decorate the showcase of any lover of Eastern art. Measurements: 135 mm width x 245 mm height.
