Stylized pair of Canton porcelain Chinese vases, made in the second half of the 19th century. These are two exceptional pieces, as they are really beautiful and antique. The vases belong to Famille Rose (pink family), a special kind of decorated porcelain. Canton porcelains are Chinese ceramic pieces which were made in China for export between the 18th and the 20th centuries. Though the wares were made and fired at Jingdezhen, they were later hand-decorated and enameled at Canton to be exported by sea through the city port. Famille rose or pink family porcelain was decorated with panels full of figures, alternated with other panels with flowers, birds and insects. This kind of decoration is typical of the 19th century, and the predominant colors are pink and green. These two vases are decorated in this way, bearing a front panel with traditional scenes and figures wearing ancient clothes, and a rear one with the animals and flowers stated before. Both the top and the base are decorated with two fringes which show fine paintings of birds. All the motives are painted by hand, very skillfully and delicately, turning these vases into magnificent decorative pieces. The vases mouths are also decorated with small green branches and pink flowers. The two vases have been carefully restored, but this fact in no way diminishes their straight and stylized shapes beauty. Their lovely and colorful decoration combines greatly with their sober figure, and they are surely a wonderful pair of porcelain pieces which will stand out in the most exclusive room or collection. Measurements: 140 mm width x 295 mm height.
