Set of Chinese porcelain handcrafted bowls and covers. The set is composed of two bowls with their respective covers, which when turned upside down become two smaller bowls. The porcelain is of good quality and made by hand, and the pieces bear the furnace mark. This mark is a light brown-ochre color which dyes the base of the pieces, and it is due to heat produced during the firing process. The bowls are in perfect condition, with no broken parts or dents, and they are as simple as elegant. The outside part is enameled in a reddish brown color, typical of this kind of ware. The pieces boast a glossy finish that embellishes them considerably. The inside is even more appealing, showing a white background decorated with drawings of fishes in a dark blue color. The fishes (there are four in each piece) seem to be swimming in the bottom of the bowls, and are surrounded by simple and almost abstract drawings depicting seaweed. It is a charming and attractive design which reveals a skilful artist. Each set of bowl and cover is meant to contain food, and the covers are intended to keep the food warm. Moreover, the covers have a base which let the user put them on the table, becoming smaller bowls intended to contain food or to put the chopsticks on. This set of wares simplicity is maybe its most appealing feature, and it turns it into a vintage piece with a curiously modern look. It will surely be the ideal piece to complete a smart dining table, property of a great lover of Oriental crafts. Measurements: Bowl with cover: 180 mm width x 90 mm height. Bowl: 180 mm width x 55 mm height. Cover: 99 mm width x 30 mm height.
