Colorful set of Chinese porcelain cup, cover and plate. These pieces were probably made in the 1950s for export and have survived to the present in very good condition. It is a craft porcelain piece and is fully decorated by hand with a lot of borders, motives and images of a great plastic beauty. The set is composed of three harmonized pieces which make up an exotic set, highly original and full of color. The central motive is the dragon, an important Chinese mythology animal which in the past was a symbol of imperial authority. It also represents the male principle (yang) and is related to water and rain. The most vividly decorated piece is surely the plate. On it we can see three similar dragons (a green one, a blue one and a red one) which are disposed in a circular design. On the white background where the dragons rest we can also see small drawings representing red flames. The mythological animals are surrounded by colorful borders and different kind of symbols: Chinese ideograms, decorative designs and classical motives. This decoration is also on the outside of the cup, where we find the red and blue dragons and the green border with a scale-shaped design, together with the same circles containing symbols and ideograms. The cover is decorated in the same way but with somewhat simpler designs. There are two small schematic figures of dragons in red and green, while in the center we can see a delicate bunch of flowers. This scene is surrounded by a classical light blue and yellow border, which is also painted on the plate. The inside of the cup and the cover is white, while the edges are painted red. This colorful Chinese porcelain set will surely highlight any dining table or showcase with its exotic presence. Measurements: Cup: 130 mm width x 50 mm height. Cover: 105 mm width x 20 mm height.
