Delicate Chinese plate made of fine porcelain with embossed and hand-painted motives. It is a vintage piece made in the 20th century for export. This beautiful plate belongs to a type of porcelain called Famille Jaune (Yellow Family), derived from valuable Famille Green porcelain that was produced in the Kanxi period (1662-1722). As we can see in this plate, the pieces are usually decorated with a combination of colorful enamels on a yellow-glazed background. The decorative designs are floral and animal patterns, brought to life by green, aubergine and red. This plate is a good example of the beauty and the elegance of this kind of porcelains. The plate is reconstructed but keeps all its parts so we can admire its lovely design without any barriers. Its hollow part bears a design with two dragons in different colors: green and aubergine. The dragon is the Chinese symbol of imperial authority and they also represent China as a part of Asia. This mythological animal is also related to water and rains, and has been honored for thousands of years. The central pattern is surrounded by a delicate wide border made up of small squares in different colors, and with four red flowers scattered on it. The decoration of this plate is highly appealing and was surely performed by a skilful artist. The motives are polychrome and slightly embossed. If we turn the plate upside down we will see that its outside is white, discreetly decorated with some garlands of violet fruits, green branches and touches of red. The plates base shows a slight brownish color, due to the heating produced during the firing process. They are all features which make up a wonderful Chinese ware piece, highly decorative and of a great traditional beauty. Measurements: 205 mm diameter.
