Elegant antique Chinese porcelain amphora from the beginning of the 19th century, maybe older. This is an exclusive piece which belongs to Famille Rose, a type of Chinese porcelain highly sought after by collectors. The name Famille Rose (Pink Family) started being used in France in the 19th century to classify Chinese porcelain pieces which began to include this color in their decorations. This porcelain is always decorated with pastel colors in a very delicate and original way, as this wonderful amphora perfectly reflects. This piece keeps its original and beautifully decorated cover. On the amphoras white ground we can see a scene of local customs in which many male figures, dressed in traditional clothes, are taking part in a procession. They are carrying a dragon and fish-shaped standards. Some figures are playing cymbals and others just accompany the procession. The lid is decorated with two figures and a butterfly. The procession seems to start and finish in a delicate tree, in front of which we can see a big pink shape which probably represents a rock. The scene is quite charming and ingenuous, and is highlighted by the simple colorful borders located on the amphoras base, neck and lid. This pieces simple design combines very well with the delicate colors of the decorations and with the artists skilful drawing. The amphoras mouth, base and lid show all a brownish tone: it is the furnace mark, produced by the heat generated during the firing process. This mark is accompanied by the small bubbles which appear in some points, and they are all characteristic of hand-made porcelains. This magnificent amphora is as antique as decorative, and its great condition turns it into an exclusive article, worthy of the most demanding collector. Measurements: 130 mm width x 235 mm height.
