Extremely rare and antique Chinese porcelain piece, made the traditional way in white and blue porcelain. This urn and its lid draw attention because of their great condition, but also for their curious rectangular shape. The piece has no dents or cracks and maintains its attractive glazed finished both inside and outside. The urns lid is square in shape and is also decorated by hand and glazed. This fine piece was made in the 18th century, during Kangxi Period. Kangxi was a Chinese emperor which ruled over the empire from 1662 to 1722. His was the longest kingdom in the history of China. The urn shows different images of the same scene, all of them relaxed and familiar. The images depict children and women, probably their mothers or careers. In one of the scenes we can see two women standing by a bridge, while to their right the children walk, carry a bulk hanging from a stick (in the traditional Chinese way), fight All the images happen in a bucolic environment, with big trees, plants and flowers. On the other side there is a female figure who watches the kids. She is in front of a table with flower pots. By her side, a small baby seems to be taking his first steps. The figures are dressed in the traditional way, and the composition is simple and natural. The scenes are full of freshness and spontaneity. On the lid there is a beautiful Oriental landscape, framed by the garland painted on the sides. On top of one of the urns sides (the scene with the two women) there is a horizontal signature composed of six Chinese ideograms. The whole piece is hand-decorated and glazed, and its lovely decorations turn it into an exclusive article. This wonderful urn is fit for the pride of place in the best collection of Oriental antieques. Measurements: 180 mm width x 300 mm height.
