Great Chinese classical-shaped amphora with lid, made the traditional way in white and blue porcelain. This antique piece belongs to the Qing Dynasty era, having been made between the 18th and the 19th centuries. Qing Dynasty was the last imperial dynasty in China and lasted from 1664 to 1912, when Puyi, the last Emperor (also known as Xuantong Emperor) abdicated. This article draws our attention because of the good condition it shows, in spite of its ancient age, and thanks to which we can admire its nice shape and careful decoration. The white porcelain the piece is made of is hand-decorated with dark blue enamel. The patterns depicted on it are very simple, performed with freshness and skill. On one of the amphoras sides we can see two male figures dressed in traditional clothes. One of them is riding a Buddhist lion and the other is carrying something that looks like a Chinese lantern or a standard. We can also see a big tree which protects them with its branches, one of which continues and ends in the lid. In the background there is also some kind of railing. The other side of the amphora is white and on it there is only an elegant Chinese ideogram, so skillfully performed that we should think is the work of a real master of calligraphy. At the amphoras base there are two blue parallel lines, while the top is decorated with a classical border. The amphoras mouth, base and lid show the furnace mark, the characteristic brownish tone produced by the heat generated during the firing process. This antique and lovely piece is undoubtedly the ideal complement for the best collection or the most exotic room. Measurements: 220 mm width x 220 mm height.
