Chinese Porcelain Teapot, 20th Century.

Lovely Chinese teapot made of Canton porcelain for export. This piece was made in the 20th century and is completely hand-decorated with patterns in soft pastel colors. The teapot is in perfect condition, with no cracks or dents, and the colors are as vivid as bright as the first day. The piece also keeps its original lid and the two artisanal handles which provide it with an exotic and original look. Canton porcelain (Guangzhou, China) was very popular between 18th and 20th centuries for the delicacy, the gloss and the quality of the pieces which came out of this city. Though the pieces were made, glazed and fired in Jingdezhen, they were eventually decorated with enamels in Canton prior to export by sea through the citys port. The teapot is fully decorated and bears two main scenes surrounded by a profuse decoration. One of the scenes shows two women and a man in a room which looks to a garden. They are dressed in traditional clothes and seem to be greeting at each other. Their faces show peaceful and kind expressions. On the other side there is a painting depicting several flowers and a blue bird on upper corner on t he left. Between the two scenes, the spout and the rest of the porcelain are decorated by drawings of butterflies on a ground of fruits, flowers, branches and abstract patterns. The teapots lid is decorated with a bird sitting on a green field, surrounded by flowers. The whole decoration is hand-painted, with an attention to detail difficult to overcome. The handles are made of some kind of vegetal, probably bamboo, and are covered by a fiber mesh. Their rustic look makes a good contrast with the delicate porcelain. If we turn the teapot upside down we will see six red Chinese ideograms. This beautiful teapots excellent condition, its polychrome decoration and its fine making turn it into a lovely vintage piece, which will fill the most elegant table with charm and style.
