Delicate plate made of high-quality porcelain. It comes from China and was made in the 19th century. This antique piece is in very good condition, with no flaws or dents, something almost incredible if we consider its ancient age and the delicacy of the porcelain. The plate shows a colorful decoration, fully hand-painted and enhanced by the combination of lights and shadows created by the gentle relief of the carvings. If we turn the plate we will discover the Qianlong mark. Qianlong was the fifth emperor of Qing Dynasty and the fourth of China. Qianlong succeeded his father, Emperor Yongzheng, and reigned for sixty years before he abdicated in favour of his song, Jiaqing Emperor. The plate shows a central drawing of a pink traditional dragon. This mythological being symbolizes different concepts in Chinese culture: from the male principle (yang) to imperial authority. It is also considered as the symbol of the Chinese nation in Asia, and it is also responsible for the rain and the waters. The dragon is thought to bring good luck, and when it has five fingers in each claw (as in this case) it is even more beneficial. The plates edge is decorated with a smart golden paint and around the dragon we can see some colorful symbols: a lotus, a bell, a wheel If we turn the plate we will discover that the rear is decorated with four pink bats. In Chinese culture, bats symbolize happiness and good luck, and they are commonly depicted in traditional wares. This detail is the finishing touch for this wonderful porcelain piece, as antique as attractive, which will surely be the ideal acquisition for the showcase of any lover of Oriental art. Measurements: 267 mm diameter.
