Antique blue and white porcelain serving tray. China, Early 20th Century

Beautiful antique white porcelain serving dish with blue hand-painted decoration, made in China in the early 20th century (Qing Dynasty early Republic). This is a fully artisanal piece, beautifully and delicately made and really well preserved. Its big size is quite remarkable, with a diameter over 30 cm; this feature makes us think that this is not a standard dish but a serving one. In spite of being quite fragile, the piece has survived to us in good condition: it has no cracks, hairlines or dents, showing only slight signs of the trace of time that remind us of its past history. The tray is painted by hand on both sides, and its front side shows off a lovely decoration performed in deep blue enamel. Among other motives, it contains zones shaped like waves or clouds decorated with abstract and symmetrical motives. We can also see fantastic beasts (somewhat like running horses), birds, trees with flowery branches and stylized vegetal motives. At the back side there are three fine oriental-style floral motives, delicate and charming. The bases center is embellished with slim blue lines and shows the furnace mark typical of artisanal porcelain pieces: a subtle brownish zone created by the heat in the firing process. In general, this dish is an antique piece with a stunning decorative beauty, an original and lovely design.
