Amazing antique metal plate fully made and decorated by hand, with a bright colorful decoration that make up a beautiful piece. The plate was made in China in the early 20th century (circa 1900) and draws out attention for its outstanding aesthetic, fully oriental and really delicate. In spite of being quite an antique piece, it remains in great condition: the colors look bright and deep and the surface is even and shiny. The plate shows some slight dents due to the trace of time and the use; there is a dent at the front side, and at the back we find two slight bumps. Also, part of the brass strip has separated from the base. These details, though, scarcely interfere with the plates beautiful look. The lovely enameled decoration covers the two sides. At the front side, over a bright light turquoise background we can see two bats and the butterflies flying among flowers, fruits and leaves. The animals are drawn in full color and show a lively aesthetic. In China, the bat is a symbol of happiness; its Chinese name means embraced wings and happiness too. Moreover, its name is pronounced just like the expression good luck. On the other hand, butterflies symbolize longevity: its Chinese name is hu tieh, with tieh meaning septuagenarian. They are also a symbol of love. The flowers and the animals are painted in bright colors: yellow, orange, green, white, pink and red in different shades. The shapes are surrounded by slim black strokes that provide them with deepness and movement. The plates border is decorated with a gorgeous dark blue fringe with a golden border. If we turn the piece upside down we will see that the center of the plate is enameled in white. The outside part is painted in the turquoise color stated before, decorated with colorful flowers and fruits. The white center is framed by a brass strip that acts as a base. Its wonderful colors and delicate designs turn this antique enameled metal plate into an antique and evocative piece, as beautiful as appealing. Measurements: 17 cm Diameter.
