Antique Chinese Carved Ivory Fan. 19th Century

Gorgeous antique bone fan carved by hand and made in China. The fan is dated in the 19th century, and though it is more than one hundred years old it has survived to our days complete and in great condition. The ribs are 1.96 in / 15 cm long, a fact that turns the fan into a small-sized delicate piece. The ribs are connected to a rivet adorned with a small turquoise stone that makes a lovely contrast with the eggshell-white bone. The carved scenes depict men dressed in the traditional Chinese way, in front of a landscape with big trees and small oriental-style buildings. They are performing different actions, from sawing to chat or merely rest. This scene has a relaxing, peaceful and harmonic feel that provides this beautiful fan with even more charm.
