Amazing Chinese plate made of fine polychrome porcelain that dates from the 18th century and is in excellent condition. This delicate piece has survived to our days with almost no visible flaws and we can admire its beauty just like new. The plate dates from Qianlong Emperor era; he reigned over China from 1736 to 1795. At the back of the plate we can see a paper sticker with the following printed inscription: Chien Lung (Qianlong), 1736-1795. The label bears also a handwritten inscription in blue ink: Wayland Wilslander.Probably it's a label of an antique datation with the name of the appraiser. The plate is profuse and delicately decorated by hand with some colorful scenes and ornamental motives. The central image seems to depict a circus, a group of musicians and dancers coming to a village or mansion. The artists are playing their tunes and showing off their art to entertain the people who are watching and listening with smiling faces. On the left upper side we can see a group of characters who are attending the play and watching the musicians from a wooden building. The artist are standing and moving in the house garden, over a bridge and under a tree.It is a charming scene, delicately painted with slim strokes of different colors and framed by a golden round fringe. The edge of the plate is also decorated with flowers and animals: insects and birds. We can distinguish clearly two styles and techniques of painting: the scenes that are surrounded by a black frame are simple and almost abstract, with just one or two colors over a white background. On the other hand, the decoration outside the black frames is colorful and looks acute and detailed, creating different types of flowers. The edge is slightly chipped in some places, but these flaws are almost imperceptible and do not interfere with the beauty of the article. This is undoubtedly a very antique Chinese porcelain piece, made of the best material and hand-decorated by a skilful artist. Its delicacy and fineness will surely delight the keenest lover of oriental antiques.Measurements: 225 mm diameter.
