Gorgeous Antique Chinese Porcelain Figurine. Qing Era. Circa 1890
Gorgeous antique Chinese porcelain figurine from the Qing era, made circa 1890 and in amazing condition. Though being so old, this piece has survived to our days wonderfully – except for some tiny flaw in the flowers of the recipient (almost imperceptible to the sight). The figurine depicts a person in period costume, with rich clothes and traditional hairstyle. He or she is wearing a colorful outfit of different layers, with a jacket and a shawl. Each layer is painted by hand with different motifs: flowers, mountains, scrolls, bands…, as well as traditional Chinese Phoenix birds, all painted in a wide color array which provides the piece with a very special charm. The figure is holding a hexagonal recipient containing a cup and a bunch of flowers. The artist’s attention to detail and careful painting work are especially remarkable, being patent in the eyebrows or the hair. The figurine stands on a pedestal composed of some overlapping colored disks, maybe pillows or carpets. If we turn the piece, inside the base we will find a mark with 6 Chinese ideograms, maybe the artist’s mark.
This gorgeous antique Chinese porcelain figurine from the Qing era will shine anywhere for its imposing presence and delicate beauty.
