Modernist Gramophone, ca. 1915.

This fine horn gramophone was made in Germany in the early 20th century, circa 1915. The first thing that recalls our attention is its wonderful design, in a modernist style and with a great decorative value. The gramophone works wonderfully too: the motor is highly silent and the music comes through loud and clear. The box is made of solid wood, combining the walnut sides with the red-dyed light wood moldings and corners. The wood has been restored so the box boasts a nice-looking, warm and satin finish. The cranks handle is also made of solid oak wood.At the front side of the box we can see a remarkable engraved-copper detail. It is a Modernist detail, beautifully made and depicting musical sheets with bells and flowery garlands, framed by a decorative background with volutes and vegetal-inspired motives. The metal piece is in perfect condition and looks charming and delicate; it was surely made by a skillful artisan. The metal elbow that holds the reproducers arm and the horn is also made of engraved metal, embellished with an abstract decoration in a nice Art Déco style. The reproducer is a Schalldose, a high quality dispositive that guarantees an excellent reproduction.The horn is also a singularly appealing piece. Big in size, boasts the classic lobed design with straight end typical of some vintage gramophones. It is made of yellowish ochre-lacquered metal and keeps the original enamel in quite good condition. Inside the mouth, just at the edge we can see a lovely fringe decorated with embossed modernist-style volutes. The horns design and color match perfectly the rest of the gramophones elements, and they all make up a very decorative item.This amazing modernist gramophone is bound to belong to somebody who can appreciate the most exclusive musical antiques.Measurements: Box: Width: 320 mm.
