Beautiful His Masters Voice (HMV) horn gramophone made in the USA circa 1910. This striking device is in excellent condition and boasts a great and highly decorative design. It also provides an amazing reproduction quality: it works wonderfully thanks to its silent motor and great reproducer that provide a powerful sound. The motor has been fine-tuned so the gramophone can display all its potential. With its wooden box and lovely lacquered-metal horn, this item is a unique and very interesting piece for any lover of vintage musical reproduction devices.As stated before, this gramophone is a His Masters Voice (HMV) product. The famous brand was used as market name by the Gramophone and Typewriter Company from 1909 on. The British company bought the image and title rights of the picture by Francis Barraud depicting a dog who listened to his dead masters voice from a phonograph. Later the painter had to change the scene so the dog listened to a record gramophone instead of a cylinder phonograph. Before 1909 the companys products bore its name initials, G&Ts; but after 1909 these letters were substituted by the famous HMV monogram.The gramophones box is made of solid oak wood, with deep veneer and nice golden brown color. At the front we can see an old label with the image of the dog listening to the record under the inscription THE GRAMOPHONE. The item has a wonderful Exhibition reproducer, made in North America and with an inscription saying so. Other remarkable part of this gramophone is the impressive metal horn, lacquered in ochre tone and with a nice finish simulating different kinds of wood. The longitudinal sections simulate a series of light-colored wood planks with wide veneer, and the edge is decorated with a faux burl wood finish.This incredible HMV gramophone is a historic piece with a high aesthetical value.
