This beautiful vintage horn gramophone is especially remarkable because of its charming design, but also its great working order. The gramophone sounds wonderfully: its motor is very silent and the reproduction is fantastic. It was made in Germany in the 1920s by the company Parlophone, as we can read in the instruments original reproduced. The gramophone has a solid oak wooden box, a nice polychrome metal horn and Art Déco-style decorative details, features that turn it into a singularly decorative piece that can reproduce records with the best performance.Parlophone was founded in Germany in 1896 under the Parlophone market name. It was launched by the Carl Lindström Company. From the beginning the brand logo was the symbol ?, the L letter in German (Lindströms name initial). We can see this logo in the gramophones reproducer together with the market name, PARLOPHONE. In 1923 the company opened a subsidiary branch in the United Kingdom and the last E was added to the name. Though in the early times the firm only produced gramophones and reproducers, with the trace of time they started producing records until they became the most important jazz record company in Great Britain. In the late 1920s the Columbia Gramophone Company bought the firm, and after merging with the Gramophone Company in 1931 the famous record company EMI was born. This nice gramophone is a good example of the companys excellent work at the beginning of the 20th century. The box is made of solid oak wood, with a nice golden brown color and its typical deep veneer. At the front we can see a screwed diamond-shaped metal plate with the inscription Deutsche Heimkunst Berlin. This was probably the name of the original distributor of the device. The elbow that supports the arm with the reproducer and the horn is made of golden brass and boasts a wonderful Art Déco-style decoration, just like the four brass details that frame the turntable. The horn itself is a striking piece: it is made of engraved metal sheet and was painted in three delicate pastel colors: blue, orange and red. This gramophone is a subtle and attractive piece that will decorate any room and also will provide the unmistakable sound of vintage musical reproducers.Measurements: Box: Width: 1.8 in/30 cm.
