This exclusive piece that stands out because of its excellent condition and working order is a horn gramophone made in 1904 by the Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd. This is a fully original article, very well preserved and providing an excellent reproduction. The motor is very silent and the records sound very well. The gramophone is very old but preserves all its original pieces and component parts. It is a fine piece indeed, worthy of a museum or the most complete collection. The Gramophone Company was a sound reproducer and recording company founded in the UK in 1897 by William Barry Oven and Trevor Williams. In 1900 Williams got the patent righst of a typewriter company and for a few years the firm was renamed The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd., the name that we can read in this gramophones reproducer. Nevertheless this company would become famous under the brand name His Masters Voice HMV, when its owners changed their original logo for the famous image painted by Francis Barraud that depicts the dog Nipper listening to his deceased masters voice through a gramophone horn. When this particular gramophone was manufactured, the companys logo was still a naked angel with a quiver and arrows on his back.We can see this logo printed on a circular label attached to one of the boxs sides. The box itself is made of solid oak wood with a dark deep finish. It is square in shape and is embellished with carved moldings, the most remarkable one being the base that boasts a hand-carved floral fringe. The cranks handle is made of the same noble material. The elbow and the arm that holds the reproducer and the horn are made of shiny polished silvery metal. The reproducer is an original Exhibition, exclusive by the brand. Last but not least, the most appealing piece of this gramophone is probably the horn: made of lobed tin sheet, it is painted black with golden nerves and edges. As impressive as antique, this gramophone is a fully original design that will delight every music lover.Measurements: Box: Width: 12.5 in/32 cm.
