This amazing horn gramophone is an especially remarkable piece because of its lovely solid wooden box and its impressive metal horn, decorated imitating noble wood. The piece is more than one hundred years old and has survived to our days in very good condition and working order. The gramophones motor is not the original one but it was also made in the early 20th century. It provides a quality sound, full of nostalgic charm. All of this gramophones component parts and pieces are original and they are all well preserved.The box is made of solid walnut wood. Its nice golden brown color, elegant parallel veneer and warn satin finish are quite remarkable. The box is simple and elegant: it is composed of four sides separated by molded corners, a milled base and a top. The elbow that supports the gramophones arm is decorated with engraved art deco motives, very popular in those times. The reproducer bears the printed word GRANDTONE and the inscription MADE IN ENGLAND. Attached to one of the boxs sides we can see a white plate with the following inscription: THE CAVALIER DISC TALKING MACHINE LONDON.The magnificent horn is a very special piece made of metal sheet. It boasts the classic lobed design that resembles a flowers petals. The metal has been carefully painted by hand to imitate noble woods. The horns inner and outer surfaces boast a beautiful light golden ochre finish, while the edge is painted in a dark brown color. These two tones create a lovely contrast.This gramophone is a very original and fine piece, quite beautiful and with a sound that will fill the classiest room with its charm.Measurements: Box: Width: 15.7 in/40 cm.
