Lovely vintage British suitcase gramophone made in 1934 by famous brand His Masters Voice HMV. It is a quite attractive model as it is a fully original article that has survived to our days in excellent working order. This gramophone is model 101 and is a portable piece: the motor is located into the suitcases box and the cover has an inner compartment designed to store the records. To operate the gramophone the user must put the different component parts (the arm with the reproducer and the crank) into their respective places and pull out the metal piece located on the suitcases front right corner.Inside the cover, in the center of the piece that supports the records we can see the brands logo and name His Masters Voice. Under the famous image of the dog listening to its deceased masters voice that comes out of a gramophone, painted in 1899 by Francis Barraud, we can read the companys name: The Gramophone Company. We can also see the remains of an old sticker with the original distributors name and address. The suitcase is completely covered (inside and outside) by bright red faux leather in great condition. The suitcase lock of this gramophone is still in operation. The silvery metal reinforces are all original and so is the carrying handle. Inside, the chromed arm and reproducer are in excellent condition: the metal looks shiny and even, as well as the turntable. The crank is also well preserved. The contrast between the red covering of the suitcase and the shiny silvery metal of the components creates a wonderful design, full of charm and surprisingly modern. This suitcase gramophone is a collectors item that will revive many ancient records and will also decorate any room with the unmistakable beauty of the original pieces.Measurements (closed): Width: 11 in/28 cm.
