Striking Spanish horn gramophone made in Barcelona in the early 20th century (circa 1915) by the renowned company His Masters Voice (His Master's Voice in Spain). The gramophone boasts a great condition and works wonderfully. It has a silent motor and provides an excellent sound quality, almost impeccable. All the component parts that make up this device are original and well preserved. The box is made of light-colored wood with a nice golden tone, and keeps the original finish. The sides are embellished with recessed burl wood panels, inserted in beautiful modernist-style gaps. The brand His Masters Voice dates from 1899, when The Gramophone Company acquired the reproduction rights of a picture by Francis Barraud that depicted the dog Nipper listening to his deceased masters voice through a horn phonograph. The company asked the painter to change the original phonograph by a gramophone of theirs. The image became the official logo of the firms products, and its title became their market name. With the trace of time the company changed its name for His Masters Voice, that in Spain was translated as His Master's Voice. At the front of the wooden box we can see a circular colorful sticker with the famous logo and the inscription His Master's Voice MARCA REGISTRADA. Surrounding this image there is a circular frame containing the words inscripciones COMPAÑÍA DEL GRAMÓFONO SOC. AN. ESPAÑOLA. The sticker is very well preserved and keeps all its original charm. The gramophones reproducer is the original one and bears the engraved name of the British company that produced these articles. As for the horn, is a really spectacular piece; it is made of lobed metal sheet, enameled in red and with golden edge. The enamel finish has been restored so the horn looks as beautiful as the first day. This antique gramophone is a collectors piece because of its rareness and excellent condition. It deserves to be exhibited in a place of honor. Measurements: Box: Width: 14.5 in/37 cm. Height: 3.1 in/8 cm. Depth: 14.5 in/37 cm. Horn: Length: 21.1 in/69 cm. Mouths width: 3.2 in/59 cm.
