Gorgeous vintage horn gramophone in excellent working condition, made in Barcelona (Spain) in 1910. This is a real collectors piece, an original Spanish His Master's Voice (His Masters Voice) reproducer. The gramophone works perfectly and sounds great; it has a silent motor and provides a neat and clear sound. All its pieces and component parts are original except for the adapting cone that connects the arm and the horn. Nevertheless this is a minor detail that does not interfere at all with this magnificent articles beauty and quality. His Master's Voice was the Spanish branch of the prestigious record company His Masters Voice, a firm that has been producing records and players from the 19th century to these days. The brand name comes from the title of a picture by Francis Barraud depicting a dog listening to his deceased masters voice. The Gramophone Company bought the picture in 1899 and used the image as a logo and the title as the market name. With the trace of time, even the company changed its name for this one. Their gramphone and musical reproducers acquired well-earned fame during the 10th century because of their quality and elegance. The gramophone that we can see in these photos boasts a clear modernist style, so common in Catalonian designs of the early 1900s. The box is made of light-colored wood, with recessed panels and top made of walnut wood. At the front we can see a sticker with the logo and the Spanish brand name, His Master's Voice, while in the right side there is a screwed metal plate with the name of the original distributor: PIQUERO & Co. GIJÓN. The gramophones reproducer is an original Exhibition. The gramophone has been restored and repainted. The big horn (at whose end we can see the back label with brand logo) has been repainted in bright colors. Moreover, the chrome parts have been painted in gray, rather than return them to chrome. The restoration of these parts could have been done better, but the whole machine is very attractive. A perfect eye-catcher. Furthermore the device is 100% functional. This Spanish gramophones gorgeous sound joins its great design to make up an exceptional piece that will be the undisputed star in any room.
