Beautiful and Luxurious Spanish horn gramophone His Master's Voice. Barcelona, ca. 1910

An attractive and authentic article, this spectacular gramophone in a modernist style is an exclusive piece, quite interesting for any collector. It is an original His Masters Voice gramophone (His Master's Voice in Spain) made in the early 20th century that was made in Spain, specifically in Barcelona. The reproducers aesthetic is clearly similar to that of the modernist style that grew considerably popular in Catalonia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The gramophone works wonderfully and provides a great sound, being also in quite good condition. His Masters Voice is one of the most important record brands of the world. This curious market name was chosen in 1899 by The Gramophone Company, after they had bought a painting by Francis Barraud that depicted the dog Nipper listening to his deceased masters voice from a horn gramophone. From then on, the company included the famous image as a logo of their products. With the trace of time, they even changed the name of the firm for the pictures title. This beautiful reproducer bears the famous logo in the sticker located at the horns mouth and also at the back of the box. One of the metal component parts that make up the elbow bears another engraved inscription with the manufacturers name, The Gramophone Co. Ltd., and the original logo depicting a naked angel writing with a big feather. The serial number 33029 is engraved in another metal piece, and also in the box. The box itself is made of solid mahogany wood with recessed panels covered by lovely golden-colored burl veneer. The panels are decorated with great modernist-style marquetry designs. Las but not least, the horn keeps the original blue and green enamel in quite good condition. All the gramophones pieces are original except for the small plate with a screw that connects the arm and the elbow.
