Great horn gramophone with wooden box and horn, decorated with inlay work at the box and in perfect working order. This is a very antique item almost one hundred years old, made in Switzerland between 1910 and 1915. Both the box and the horn have been thoroughly restored and look wonderful, with the deep glow provided by the elegant French-polish finish. The motor is quite silent: is a double-spring motor that lets the user play two complete records after turning the crank just once. The sound is stunning too. The box is quite remarkable for its decorative beauty. It is made of golden-colored solid oak wood and has molded base and top, with softly-waved edges. The sides and corners are embellished with vertical wooden laths that act as separators oh the inlay-decorated panels. The inlay work is composed of walnut squares and fringes made of walnut and lemongrass wood, diagonally disposed. The base has a wide horizontal walnut piece in the middle. The contrast of the dark wood with the light-colored box is extremely remarkable. On the other hand, the horn is also a striking piece. It is made of walnut wood and has an ample circular mouth. The wood is very well preserved and boasts a lovely reddish brown color that enhances the beauty of the piece. The horn is connected to a silver piece that also supports the reproducer or soundbox; this piece has a compensation counterweight that balances the needle when touching the record. The metal piece that supports the reproducer bears an engraved serial number with the following digits: 3 >A54467. The symbol between the 3 and the A trade mark of Parlophone. Because of its impressive decorative beauty and its ancient age, this gramophone is a museum piece that any good collector will appreciate. Measurements: Box: Side: 13.7 in/35 cm.
