Amazing English suitcase gramophone for the Frech market made in the 1930 by the famous record company and gramophone manufacturer His Masters Voice. This is the model 102, a real classic design whose silent and perfectly preserved motor lets the user play gramophone records with a high quality reproduction. The article is very well preserved and keeps all its original component parts, including the sound box (reproducer). If we open the suitcase and lift the cover, we will find a plank designed to store records inside. There is a label printed on the plank with the famous logo of the brand (a dog listening to the sound that comes from a HMV gramophones horn), in wonderful condition and full color. This gramophone was clearly manufactured for the French market as the brand name is in this language, together with the inscription IMPORTE DANGLETERRE. The famous image of the dog and the gramophone dates from 1899, when the record company bought a picture by Francis Barraud that depicted the dog Nipper listening to his masters voice from a horn gramophone. This beautiful article has also the patent number engraved in one of its metal component parts: PAT. Nº 282680. The word PAKAWA, the name of a famous manufacturer of leather articles that made the suitcase containing the gramophone, is engraved in other metal part. The plank where the turntable stands is made of walnut-colored wood, in great condition and with a fine glossy finish. The sound box bears the brand and manufacturers name engraved at the back: HIS MASTERS VOICE The Typewriter and Gramophone Company. Extremely historic and attractive, this HMV gramophone is a very decorative item that displays character and charm. Measurements (closed): Width: 11.4 in/29 cm. Depth: 14.9 in/38 cm.
