Magnificent HMV horn gramophone in excellent condition. Great Britain, 1905-10

Spectacular horn gramophone made in the early 20th century (1905-10), in very good condition and great working order. This His Masters Voice (HMV) gramophones motor works wonderfully. With a classic design and excellent sound quality, this is a first-class musical reproducer that does credit the brand that made it. In spite of being quite an antique item, the gramophone look beautiful and can be used to reproduce gramophone records, providing a nostalgic and unmistakable sound.At the front side of the box we can see the classic brand logo, printed in color. Under the image of the dog and the gramophone there is an inscription with the brand name: HIS MASTERS VOICE. HMV brand was created by the Gramophone Company in 1899, when they bought the picture by Francis Barraud that depicted a dog listening to his dead masters voice that came from a horn gramophone. Curiously enough, we must say that in the beginning the dog was listening to a cylinder phonograph but the painter had to change it by a gramophone in order to sell it. During the 20th century HMV became one of the most powerful record companies in the world; after many ups and downs, nowadays is still active.This lovely gramophone has a solid oak wooden box, with deep veneer and warm shiny finish. It preserves the original arm and sound box: this is an Exhibition Junior with the serial number 45750 engraved in the metal. Though all the component parts are fine and work well, surely the most remarkable one is the big metal horn. This piece is painted with brown enamel in two shades to imitate oak and walnut wood. The metal sheet is decorated with grooves and reliefs that provide it with an elegant look.HMV gramophones are real collectors pieces, quite sought after.
