Antique horn gramophone in excellent condition. Central Europe, Circa 1915

This great horn gramophone, made circa 1915 and in wonderful condition, is an impressive article because of its beautiful design and excellent working order. It comes from Central Europe and has been fully restored so it currently boasts an undeniable beauty. The gramophone works fine: the motor and the different component parts have been revised and fine-tuned so it provides a neat, quality and charming sound. The solid oak wooden box and the brass horn have been restored by professionals and show an almost impeccable condition. The box boasts a straight and sober design, with the oak wood showing off its fine golden brown color and the deep veneer typical of the wood. These details are enhanced by the French polish finish that provides the surface with a warm satin glow. The front face is decorated with a carved relief depicting a horseshoe flanked by some symmetrical garlands. It is an Art Noveau style motive that provides the gramophone with a considerable beauty. Attached to the box we can see the golden brass arm that holds the soundbox and the impressive horn. The reproducer or soundbox is a Dulcetto model with serial number 5450/28. The name Dulcetto was used by the British Polyphon Company during the first quarter of the 20th century: Dulcetto reproducers are noted for their quality and great working order. The one we can see in the photographs is connected to the beautiful horn by a matt black-enameled metal elbow. Last but not least, the horn is surely one of the most remarkable parts of the gramophone. It is completely made of polished golden brass and boasts a conical straight design, extremely elegant. The brasss intense shine makes a great contrast with the warm dark color of the wooden box; both parts make up a great article, as attractive as timeless.
