Impressive Suitcase Gramophone His Master's Voice. Spain, 1935

This amazing antique gramophone, with an attractive and contemporary design, is a suitcase model made for Spain in 1935. It is a His Masters Voice gramophone (in Spain they were called His Master's Voice) that stands out because of its bright red color, excellent condition and wonderful sound. The motor is quite silent and plays the records with a quality sound that provides the gramophone with a considerable interest. The outside covering is also in impressive condition, with almost no flaws and preserving all the original details. Inside the cover we can see the typical compartment designed to store the records. It bears a printed label with the famous brand logo accompanied by the inscription His Master's Voice MARCA REGISTRADA COMPAÑÍA DEL GRAMÓFONO S.A.E. This company entered Spain in the early 20th century through the French branch of the English-American firm. They stablished in Barcelona and eventually made their own models. In 1911 they already had a wide array of gramophones and accessories. The logo with the dog Nipper listening to a horn gramophone came to Spain by the hand of the French branch too, and started appearing in Spanish designs in the late 1920s. The gramophone also has a small circular enameled-metal plate with the name of the shop where the gramophone was originally purchased: AEOLIAN PIANOS PIANOLAS, located in Madrid. This model mounts an original HMV soundbox or reproducer: a HIS MASTERS VOICE Nº 4 with the manufacturers name engraved at the back. Outside, the box covered in bright red leather, the chromed-metal pieces and the reinforcements, locks and hinges are in an astounding condition. The red covering boasts an even and fine surface and the metal shines bright, with no traces of rust or dents.
