Impressive His Master's Voice Mantel Gramophone Model 109. England, 1927.

This spectacular table gramophone with oak wooden box is the model 109 by His Masters Voice. It is a classic and quality design, in an almost impeccable condition and working perfectly. Its double spring motor is quite silent and is capable of playing records for longer than single spring motors; it has been fully fine-tuned to guarantee the best working order. The wooden box has also been restored and it boasts a wonderful look, with a delicate French-polish finish whose satin glow enhances the beauty of the natural oak wood. Inside the cover we can see the classic HMV logo with the brand name, the manufacturing company (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) and the place where it was located (Hayes, Middlesex). The British record company was founded in 1897 by William Barry Owen and Trevor Williams, as the UK partner of The United States Gramophone Company founded in 1892. In 1899 Owen asked painter Francis Barraud to change the Edison phonograph of his picture His Masters Voice by a gramophone of his own, and then he bought the picture; it was the beginning of the extraordinarily famous logo with the dog listening to the gramophone, and also of the brand name. The oak woodenthat contains the motor boasts an impressive beauty thanks to its deep golden brown color and pronounced veneer. Its front side bears two small doors that hide the inner horn and can be used to regulate the sound volume. In order to do that, the user can just keep them opener or closer. The reproducer or soundbox is a His Master´s Voice Nº 4, a typical component part of the model 109 in excellent working order. All the gramophones metal parts and pieces show an optimal condition, with the chromed-metal surface looking shiny and even and showing no traces of wear or rust.
