Impressive His Masters Voice (The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd.) horn gramophone phonograph, beautifully designed and very antique. This device dates from 1900 and was made in Great Britain and it's almost identical to the Victor I; in spite of its ancient age, nowadays it is in an amazing condition. With solid wooden box and lacquered metal sheet horn, the gramophone is highly remarkable because of its ancient age and the attention to detail that boasts its design. The motor and the reproducer have been carefully dismantled and fine-tuned in order to provide an excellent working order. Though the motor is not as silent as later models, this antique gramophone works wonderfully and its nostalgic sound is a real pleasure to listen. The box is made of solid oak wood, with a nice light golden color and adorned with paste embellishments. Embedded in the top plank there is a small reproduction of the original brand logo, an image that depicts a naked child angel holding a big feather. The machine was made by The Gramophone Company in the early 20th century, when the famous brand His Masters Voice was not so popular yet. The original reproducer or soundbox bears an engraved inscription with the name that the company then beheld: GRAMOPHONE & TYPEWRITER LTD, as well as the reproducers own name, EXHIBITION. As stated before, the box boasts a singularly decorative design enhanced by the paste details, molded in the shape of wavy fringes. The elbow that supports the gramophones arm is also a very beautiful piece: it is painted black and preserves the original golden embellishments in very good condition. The magnificent metal horn is connected to the arm: the metal is painted with light ochre enamel. The horns finish faithfully reflects the oak woods color and veneer, the same wood the box is made of. Any lover of music and antiques will find a real jewel in this wonderful HMV gramophone, an ancient and stately piece. Measurements: Box: Side: 12.2 in / 31 cm. Height: 11.8 in / 30 cm.
