Amazing antique horn gramophone in excellent working order and thoroughly restored. This is a piece from the early 20th century (circa 1915) in very good condition. The gramophone works wonderfully, providing a high quality sound and an impeccable reproduction. Its design is stylish and elegant; these features turn the gramophone into a highly decorative item. The elbow that supports the horn and the reproducer or soundbox bears the word DULCEPHONE engraved in the metal, in big Art-Nouveau-style lettering. Dulcephone was the brand name given to horn gramophones marketed by Barnett-Samuel & Sons. The company would later commercialize the Decca portable gramophone, an article that became very popular, and would change the name Dulcephone for Decca. The horn and the box also correspond to the classic brand designs, while other component parts (such as the Kosmos soundbox and the speed selector, original from the time have been adapted to the gramophone later. The box is made of solid oak wood, with a fine light golden color and remaining in great condition. It boasts a classic and sober design, decorated only with a molded base and small carved details. The box has been fully restored: the French polish finish that protects the wood provides it with a classic and natural beauty.Mechanically it is in very good condition and all pieces appear to be original except the speed regulator that has been adapted from another machine. The horn is an impressive piece, made of engraved metal sheet and with a green enameled finish; the mouths edge is inside embellished with a fine golden patina that enhances its visual attractive.
