Antique suitcase or portable gramophone made in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. This is an original piece from those times that still works really fine. The suitcase is covered of a bright red faux-leather fabric; this lining shows some signs of the trace of time and use in the corners and the carrying handle. Nevertheless it is complete and still keeps its striking color. The suitcase keeps the original chromed-metal shutting lock, the hinges and the carrying handle. If we lift the cover, inside we will find a circular sticker in magnificent condition. It shows an image of a suitcase gramophone with a Cyrillic inscription showing the brand name ARTEL GRAMMOPHON and the city where the firm was located, Leningrad (currently Saint Petersburg). The sticker combines different colors and stands out for its beautiful design. The gramophone itself is made up by several silvery metal component parts, all of them in optimal condition and with no visible traces of rust. The reproducer is the original one; at its back we can see again the brand name in embossed lettering. All the chromed pieces remain in striking condition, as shiny as new and boasting an impeccable working order. These details turn this gramophone into a first-class item, perfect to become part of a good collection or to decorate a stylish room. For its amazing sound and appealing design, this Soviet portable gramophone will become the starring piece in the most special home. Measurements (Closed): Width: 3.9 in / 10 cm.
