Attractive suitcase phonograph - gramophone made in Germany in 1920 by Odeon. The models name is Carlet and it is not a very common piece. It is in good condition and great working order, having been cleaned and fine-tuned to guarantee a good performance. The phonograph - gramophone preserves all its original pieces and component parts, and its sober and classic design is really attractive. The suitcase where the device is stored is made of black-leather-covered wood, with the original locks, hinges and carrying handle. Inside the cover, its bottom part bears can the models name, Carlet, printed in clear golden lettering. In the base of the turntable base, at the top left corners we can see the remains of a sticker with the Odeon brand name and logo. Odeon Records was a record and phonograph - gramophone company founded in Germany in 1903 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz. The market name was inspired by the famous Parisian theater whose dome is depicted in the brand logo. In 1904 Odeon launched the first double-sided phonograph - phonograph records and in 1909 they the first recording of a large orchestral work. In 1904 Odeon became part of the Carl Lindström Company, which was in turn acquired by the Columbia phonograph - gramophone Company in 1926. This lovely phonograph - gramophone is a good example of the Odeon products quality. The chromed-metal pieces are well preserved: the arm with the reproducer, the knobs and the settings. They do not show any trace of rust and fit perfectly in their place. The reproducer is the original one and bears the engraved inscription ODEON GRAND, together with the logo stated before. The crank is original too though it does show some traces of rust in its surface, it works fine and preserves the solid wooden handle. This amazing suitcase phonograph - gramophone is bound to belong to a great music lover who also appreciates quality antiques. Measurements (Closed): Width: 7.8 in / 20 cm. Height: 10.6 in / 27 cm.
