This is a HMV Monarch IV (No. 4) gramophone - phonograph with solid oak wooden box and Morning Glory horn made of black-lacquered metal sheet. The gramophone is in great condition and working order: the motor has been deeply cleaned and checked in order to guarantee it. It is a high quality double-spring motor that provides an excellent operation and a wonderful sound. His Masters Voice (HMV) is a label launched byThe Gramophone Company, a British record company founded in 1897 as a subsidiary of the United States Gramophone Company. It was founded by William B. Owen and Trevor Williams. The firm launched the brand after buying a picture by Francis Barraud with the same title that depicted the famous image of the dog and the gramophone. The model that we can see in these photographs boasts a beautiful and elegant design. The box is made of light-colored oak wood and milled side panels. The wood bears a fine French-polish finish and looks shiny and good. The reproducer is an Exhibition model, made in England by the same company. The most remarkable piece of this gramophone is undoubtedly the black-lacquered metal horn with golden nerves. The whole item is really attractive, combining aesthetic beauty and sound quality in an only and wonderful device.
