Awesome antique horn gramophone with art-deco-style decoration and in great condition. This device was made in Central Europe (probably Germany) in the early 20th century. The gramophone is really well preserved and has been fully restored, except for the beautiful enameled-metal horn. This element keeps the original bright red finish, still in good condition. The box is made of different types of wood with subtle colors that match well. The gramophones motor has been carefully tuned so today the device works fine and provides an spectacular sound. The gramophones reproducer is a Polyphon mode, made by the Polyphon Musikwerke. This company was founded in 1870 in Leipzig, Germany, and in 1897 started the full-scale production of phonographs, gramophones and component parts. It was active until the early 1900s. Polyphon reproducers were exported all over the world; the company also produced gramophone records in different countries such as France, England, Germany and the Central European region. This gramophones design is really amazing. The boxs front side is decorated with a golden-metal detail depicting a man and a woman playing instruments. The composition shows a fine art-deco style and stands out for its elegant symmetry. The elbow that supports the horn and the reproducer bears a black enameled finish with delicate embossed golden decoration. As for the arm that connects both elements, it is made of golden brass and remains in good condition. The reproducer mounts a small lever to lift or lower the device when playing records. It is an unusual element that provides the article with even more interest. This beautiful horn gramophone will be the most relevant decorative element in an elegant music or dining room.
