Antique Working Pocket Gramophone 'Cameraphone'. Germany, 1920's

This fine device is a collapsible or portable gramophone, a model widely known as cameraphone for its small size that reminds us of an antique box camera. This piece was manufactured in Germany in the 1920s and has survived to our days in excellent condition and working order. The motor has been overhauled and cleaned in order to guarantee it, so today the gramophone can play records and let us enjoy its nostalgic sound. All its component parts and pieces are original from the period and preserve the evocative charm of turn-of-the-century devices. The gramophone is composed of a solid wooden box that contains the motor and the component parts. Once opened, the pieces appear perfectly stored in their respective compartments: to manipulate the gramophone, the user must just remove them and put them in their right places. The mechanism is composed of the crank-operated motor, the green-felt-covered turntable, the reproducer connected to the eartrumpet speaker and a slim metal rod that supports these two last elements. The trumpet has a reparation in the end that connect to the reproducer. To operate the gramophone, the user must fix the rod in its place (inside the open cover), attach the reproducer to the rod and put the turntable and the crank in their corresponding places. The gramophone mounts an Exposition reproducer, similar to the classic Exhibiton model but bigger in size. The reproducer bears an inscription reading THE FINEST REPRODUCER IN THE WORLD. This element is connected to a beautiful antique speaker made of faux-tortoiseshell bakelite and in amazing condition. The gramophones box is also quite well preserved: the oak wood displays its lovely veneer and is enhanced by the fine handmade dovetail joints that connect the different pieces.
